Ponte Vecchio viewed from Piazzale Michelangelo.

Duomo--Santa Maria del Giglio--cathedral of Florence. I don't believe I ever made it inside, but the outside is beautiful. It was about the 2nd week of September but there were still oodles of tourists, as you can see. As in many old European towns, you're walking around lanes that have been there from the 1200's on, as are at least some of the buildings. The more recent ones are from the 1500's or later. Of course, there are more modern neighborhoods farther from the center.
The belltower, campanile, apparently designed by Giotto, more famous for his paintings. It's quite lovely for a tower, rather delicate looking.

Dante looks kind of crabby in this statue, but then he has a pigeon on his head.
You may have noticed scaffolding in more than one of these pictures; trying to keep the pollution and general wear and tear at bay is a constant struggle.
