Padua is in the Veneto, the region containing Venice, once controlled by the Venetian Republic. So here's some more recent Venetian style architecture.
Donatello, the sculptor, was in Padua for a while, according to this plaque.
I took this from one of those open-topped tour buses. You can see how narrow this street is--there's very little room on either side of the bus.
