16 Oct.08--end of Ireland

Look closely, y'all. This was the one day in 5 weeks during which it did not rain or drizzle, and the day started without clouds.

Prehistoric mound at Knowth, outside of Dublin. It's surrounded by big, carved rocks at the bottom around much of the circumference.

The triple spiral, similar to the one on the Sligo water lid, goes back 5000 years. This one is at Newgrange, close to Knowth.

Statue of a woman who sold cockleshells during the day and her body by night to support her family. The Irish admire her initiative, even if it was borne of desperation. They understand the desperation.
